Tactical Operations

Aurynth Star

Developed during the Scourge Age, the Aurynth Star was taught and engaged as an offensive tactical formation by the Najjan—the elite warrior sect sworn to the House of Boreal.

Warriors mass-mobilized the Aurynth Star in targeted assaults to better pierce enemy lines amid the compacted chaos of the Mworran Wars. In distributing najjani attack in seven-pointed formation, warriors could infiltrate the most impenetrable defenses while expending minimal manpower.

Led by a dominant steer at its utmost apex, the Aurynth Star is supported by a proxy at zenith, should the first steer fall in battle. Partnering the warrior fixed at zenith, the Star is likewise guarded at the rear by the opposing counterpart of nadir. Surrounding the formation are four adjacent spurs. Each spur is positioned to shield as well as to attack, in the event the directional momentum of the Star changes force. By this design, an isolated cradle of protection is created at the center of the unit’s warfare.

This tactical formation rapidly became standard in the najjani art of war. From the climax of the Zôueli betrayal, launching the Orynthian Storm Age, and into later centuries, the Aurynth Star is most frequently utilized for high-risk extraction operations.
